Dr. Kirsten Tolstrup selected as Associate Chief of Ambulatory Cardiology

Following a national search, Kirsten Tolstrup, MD, was selected to become Associate Chief of Ambulatory Cardiology. As a senior clinician, Dr. Tolstrup has considerable experience in heart valve disease, including specific expertise in the echocardiographic guidance of interventional procedures. In her new role, Dr. Tolstrup will be developing and executing strategies for the continued growth of the ambulatory cardiology practice.

Dr. Tolstrup stood out among the other candidates as an experienced leader in cardiology. Prior to joining UCSF in 2016, she held several leadership roles: Assistant Director of the Cardiac Noninvasive Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (UCLA); Director of the Cardiac Non-invasive Stress Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; and Medical Director of the Heart Station and Echo Laboratory at University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center. At UCSF, Dr. Tolstrup has led the structural heart echocardiography program and is highly respected by her colleagues.
