Ongoing UCSF Investigator-Initiated Studies

Title: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of vasodilators to facilitate trans-radial cardiac catheterization
Principal Investigator: Andrew Boyle, PhD
Purpose: The study is designed to facilitate radial artery access for cardiac diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by increasing the size of the radial artery with a new non-invasive method.

Title: Assessment of myocardial perfusion at cardiac catheterization
Principal Investigator: Andrew Boyle, PhD
Purpose: To assess the clinical utility of a novel software algorithm to accurately quantify myocardial perfusion in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. It will be compared with the gold standard MRI perfusion.

Title: Myocardial release of cytokines in patients with coronary artery disease
Principal Investigator: Andrew Boyle, PhD
Purpose: To sample to coronary arterial and coronary venous blood for release of cytokines from the heart in various stages of coronary artery disease.
