Dr. Vasanth Vedantham specializes in treating a wide range of heart rhythm disorders with medications, catheter ablation and implantation devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. He also treats patients with heart failure and those recovering from or at risk for heart attacks. In his research, he works with the Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease to study the heart's electrical system to identify new ways to treat and prevent heart rhythm disorders.
Vedantham earned a medical degree at Harvard Medical School. He completed an internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at UCSF. He has received numerous awards including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Award, GlaxoSmithKline Cardiovascular Research and Education Foundation Young Investigator Award and the NIH K08 Career Development Award. Vedantham is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and Cardiac Electrophysiology Society
