Jeffrey Olgin, MD received his BA and MD from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency, cardiology fellowship and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. He returns to UCSF as Chief of Cardiac Electrophysiology after spending 7 years on faculty at the Krannert Institute of Cardiology at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he developed an active program in ablation of atrial fibrillation.

Dr. Olgin's clinical interest is in ablation and device therapies for arrhythmias. He has developed novel techniques for ablation of atrial arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. Dr. Olgin will be starting an Atrial Arrhythmia Clinic at UCSF, which will provide comprehensive care of these patients, including new ablation, device and drug therapy as well as programs to investigate genetic links in atrial fibrillation.

In addition to his clinical expertise and interests in managing patients with arrhythmias, Dr. Olgin brings a large NIH-funded research lab. His research interests include understanding mechanisms of atrial fibrillation and atrial remodeling. Dr. Olgin is active in the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, serving on several committees. He is on editorial boards of the major cardiology and electrophysiology journals and has authored several textbook chapters on arrhythmias.
