Dr. Gregoratos has previously held the positions of Chief, Clinical Cardiology at UC San Diego and UC Davis, and Chief, Division of Cardiology at California Pacific Medical Center.

He recently served as Editor of the Cardiovascular Diseases Medical Self Assessment program of the American College of Physicians and as chair of a combined AHA/ACC Committee which revised the guidelines for implantation of pacemakers and defribrillator devices.

He has been a consultant to the Food and Drug Administration for many years.

Dr. Gregoratos has an abiding interest in medical education and has been honored over the years with Outstanding Teacher and Distinguished Faculty Awards.

His research interests include:

  • Hemodynamics of acute ischemic syndromes
  • Pulmonary vascular diseases
  • New therapies for heart failure and
  • Hemodynamic correlates of abnormal heart sounds
