Dr. Ethan Weiss is a cardiologist specializing in acute-care cardiology, coronary artery disease and general cardiology. His special interests include preventive cardiology, the genetics of coronary disease and coronary disease in the young. Weiss spends most of his time in the basic science laboratory currently under the mentorship of Dr. Shaun Coughlin. He is using genetic models to enhance the understand of the mechanism of blood clotting as it relates to coronary events

Weiss earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency on the Osler Medical Service of the John Hopkins Hospital. Weiss came to the University of California, San Francisco in 1998 as a cardiology fellow and is currently an assistant professor of medicine.
