and Arrhythmia Service are committed to providing you
with the most technically advanced and personalized care.
Our Electrophysiology team has a reputation for excellence
in the evaluation and treatment of patients with a variety
of cardiac arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms).
Electrophysiology, a
sub-specialty of cardiology, is a rapidly growing field
on the forefront of discovering cures and new treatment
for all forms of arrhythmias. In the 1980's, doctors at
UCSF pioneered the use of catheter ablation. Today, catheter
ablation cures a variety of cardiac arrhythmias. With
the rapid advancements in the electrophysiology field,
it can even leave cardiologists without special training
in electrophysiology perplexed, not to mention consumers.
To familiarize you with electrophysiology study and cardiac
arrhythmias, pacemakers and implantable defibrillators,
we have prepared the following pages-
